David Johnson - Beef and Tillage Farmer

David Johnson farms a beef and tillage system in Redcross County Wicklow on the east coast of Ireland. He is a Bord Bia Quality Assured farmer and takes care of the land with his wife Paula, his parents Henry and Dorothy, and his three sons Matthew, Scott & Christopher.

David has always held sustainability as a priority. Seeing his role as caretaker of the land, he wants to leave the farm in equal or better condition for the generations to come. He knew he would have to be part of something that contributes to the long-term viability of his farm. The Origin Green programme offered a clear way to achieve this.

The programme provides measurable benefits for David and other farmers as it reduces inefficiencies while lowering the environmental impact of his farm. ‘If we all become more efficient, we’re improving the environment, while also getting the most for our money, it’s a no-brainer really’.
